How does plastic effect environment?
Australian use plastic bags 4 billion each year. People throw plastic bags in the sea, animal dead each year. Waste is a problem for the environment because people are producing more waste than ever before. The amount of rubbish that people throw away is a big problem. It’s becoming more difficult to find place to bury it. In NT the governments said ‘NT to bar use of plastic bags by next July’.
Plastic (particularly packaging) is generally not recyclable or biodegradeable. This means that when you have used it you have no choice but to throw it away. If you use glass packaging for example the glass can be cleaned and reused (this is what happens with beer bottles etc). You can't do this with plastic. So lots of it gets thrown away. When you throw away, say, paper it degenerates into mush over time and disappears. Plastic doesn't do this so it means more and more space has to be given over to be used as dumps. Because plastic isn't recycled (like glass can be) we need to make a lot of it: that requires the use of a lot of electricity so this is bad for the environment too. Also it is made from petrol byproducts and obviously the process of extracting petrol from the earth is particularly environmentally unfriendly.

are waste alternatives to using plastic products?

We can use paper bags to replacement plastic bags and we can use iron bottle to replace plastic bottle.
This is a table to show you how much time the rubbish go to decompose.

The time it takes for rubbish to decompose
Paper takes 2-5 week
Orange peel takes 6 months
Milk cartons take 5 years
Cigarette filler tips take 10-20years
Plastic bags take 10-20 years
Leather shoes take 25-40 years
Nylon cloth takes 30-40 years
Plastic container take 50-80 years
Aluminium cans take 80 years
Tin cans take 100 years
Plastic drink bottle take 450 years
Glass bottle take 500 years
Styrofoam caps food containers and packing never decomposes.

Gutter perch shellac and the horns of animals all naturally occurring substances were used as plastic material before the first synthetic plastic were produce. Extrusion melding the main process used to form plastics inject melding is the second most widely used process to form plastics. There are 50 different groups of plastic, with hundreds of different variates. In 1951 two young boy research chemists for Phillips petroleum company in Bartlesville, kola made discoveries that revolutionized the
plastic world.
The First Man-Made Plastic – Parkesine
The first man-made plastic was created by Alexander Parkes who publicly demonstrated it at the 1862 Great International Exhibition in London. The material called Parkesine was an organic material derived from cellulose that once heated could be molded, and retained its shape when cooled.

• Plastic bags, bottle etc on earth everywhere in the streets, in the sea, parks ,schools, home ...
• Nearly all the thing are made by plastics.
• There is some example for plastic things and where “they” live.
• They are really dangerous.
• Plastics are damaging the earth.
• People are producing more plastic than ever before.
• So we can use paper bags to replacement plastic bags and we can use iron bottle to replace plastic bottle.
